Today, formal dialogue among religions is self-consciously committed to four areas: (1) the importance of personal faith experience as a foundation for authentic dialogue; (2) the communal discernment of truth as a necessary elements in clarifying the truth claims of one's own tradition; (3) the discovery of alternative modes of knowing and methods of interpretation that affirm the unitive, mystical, and nondual aspects of consciousness; and (4) the emergence of new visions of reality and new revelations found through contemplative awareness, dialogue, and exploration.
