One of the best and simplest ways we can strengthen our faith is to pray the names of God. Repeating a sacred name is a mantra. Literally, the term mantra means "to protect," especially the mind. According to Eastern mysticism, the mantra harnesses the power of the vibration of shabda, sacred sound. Repetition of mantras unleashes certain cosmic forces that drive deep into the consciousness. When we repeat the names of God, we are aligning every cell in our being with the highest consciousness possible. The constant repetition of holy vibrations raises up our own consciousness. We burst into a new level of awareness and being, which becomes part of us without our having to think consciously about it. It functions like the hum of a generator. . . .

What do we manifest by saying the names of God? The highest possible qualities are radiated back to us in a continuous stream. Unconditional love. Wholeness. Peace. Joy. Faith.
