"We are all related" is a prayer of faith and communion that could well be repeated over and over in the midst of a crowd, a traffic jam or checkout line. The ritual of Holy Communion is intended to awaken us to this deeply buried and unspoken truth. The Native American Plains Indians, at the conclusion of their pipe ceremony, would all murmur: "We are all related."
