Soon I was praying daily the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan, "Raise us above the distinctions and differences which divide us." The distinctions of personalities and religions don't disappear in their outward form, but mysticism takes us to the center where the differences do, indeed, disappear. . . . Sufism hasn't replaced religion; it has deepened it. In my own life, Sufism has helped me learn again to wave at God.
