I have tasted the Divine in nature, in solitude, in loneliness, in intimacy, in community, in friendship, in music, in grief, in liturgy, in meditation, in the cinema, in (most especially) study and writing, in work and lecturing, in listening to others' stories, in silence, in cities, on farms, in South America and North America, in Europe and Australia and Asia, in allies and in enemies. I could never say that I have been thwarted in my quest to experience the Divine.
