Spiritual Quotes for Inspiration

Many people enjoy collecting spiritual quotes from their favorite mentors, teachers, authors, and other valuable resources. A good quote may describe an inspired moment by the person and also catalyze the same experience in the reader's life. That's why you'll find that we quote freely and often throughout the pages of Spirituality & Practice. But our spiritual quotes are different from most other collections found on the Internet. We consistently cite the source of a quotation, and we tell you what book or article it came from. If the quote inspires you, you can then go to the source and glean additional information.

A good spiritual quotation is like a spiritual practice. It can help with your everyday spirituality, and allow you make a deeper connection when on your journey:

  • Vertically - creating awareness of the presence of God in your life.
  • Horizontally - connecting you with your neighbors and the Creation or environment.
  • Internally - establishing a depth connection that helps you see who you really are.

To find these kinds of spiritual quotes, go to the pages devoted to the 37 practices in the Alphabet of Spiritual Literacy (linked off the right column of the homepage). Read quotation samplers from each of the teachers in the Living Spiritual Teachers Project. Watch some of the clips from the Spiritual Literacy DVDs and consider buying the series; each program consists of a collage of the best quotes about a spiritual practice drawn from the 650 passages in the book Spiritual Literacy: Reading the Sacred in Everyday Life by Spirituality & Practice co-founders Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat.
The Practicing Spirituality E-courses consist of 40 emails, each of which has a spiritual quote on the theme and a spiritual practice to apply that quote to everyday life.
