Stephanie Dowrick was born in New Zealand and lived in Europe for many years where she was founder and first Managing Director of the prestigious London publishing house The Women’s Press. She came to Australia in 1983 and has lived in Sydney ever since.

An ordained interfaith minister, Dowrick has been leading workshops and spiritual retreats for many years in Australia and overseas, including 14 years of retreats at Mana Retreat Centre, New Zealand. Since 2006 she has led a large, diverse, and fully inclusive interfaith congregation at Pitt Street (264) Uniting Church in Sydney; the talks she gives at these services are available globally via InterfaithinSydney's YouTube channel. She also co-hosts the online book club, The Universal Heart Book Club, regularly blogs, and uses social media to provide continuing inspiration and encouragement to many thousands of people. Not least, Stephanie is a mother and grandmother.

From 2001 - 2010, she was the "Inner Life" columnist for Good Weekend Magazine (Sydney Morning Herald and The Age), a well-being presenter for ten years for Breast Cancer Network Australia, and continues as a regular guest on ABC Radio.

Stephanie is particularly concerned with how our inner development and spiritual practice is lived out in the wider world: how we grow in active and meaningful concern for others, as well as in our power to create personal and shared peace.
