Eckhart Tolle was born in Germany where he spent the first 13 years of his life. After graduating from the University of London, he was a research scholar and supervisor at Cambridge University. When he was 29 he had what he describes as a profound spiritual transformation that dissolved his old identity and radically changed the course of his life. The next years were devoted to understanding that transformation and deepening his inward journey. He now lives in Vancouver, Canada.

Tolle is not affiliated with any particular religion, doctrine, or guru, and yet has emerged as one of the most popular spiritual teachers of our time. His 1999 book The Power of Now became a worldwide bestseller after it was discovered by Oprah Winfrey. For this companion card deck, Tolle has chosen short sentences that convey the essence of that book. The cards are divided into groups on The Power of Now, Portals to the Now, The Power of Being Present, The Joy of Being, and Rising Above Thought.

Pick a card a day or choose one a week and meditate on how it relates to your life. For example: "Observe how the mind labels an unpleasant moment and how this labeling process, this continuous sitting in judgment, creates pain and unhappiness." And "Ask yourself what 'problem' you have right now, not next year, tomorrow, or five minutes from now. What is wrong with this moment."
