This book uses the different seasons of summer, fall, winter, and spring to meditate upon the cycles of life and death, loneliness and companionship, fear and hope. Although the author lives on a ranch in Wyoming, she is enchanted with islands as spurs to self-regeneration. All in all, Ehrlich's writing about the interconnections between nature and the renewal of spirit is positively bewitching.
