We [can] become aware of the interplay between tool and user and start to recognize the interconnectedness — the oneness — of all things.... From there we adopt the attitude of nodding towards everything — the lamp, the desk, the roof, and the floor. Soon, we're living a life full of gratitude.

To Practice This Thought:
Pick one object that serves you and offer it a nod of respect each time you encounter it: Your favorite cup, your garden gate, your pillow, your lamp, your car. Once you have established this habit, pick a second object upon which you will also bestow these nods of appreciation and reverence.
