Get a stone about the size of a football. Wet your hands and grasp the stone firmly with both hands while you place the memories and the pain you suffered in the past into the stone. As you let go, your wet handprints will remain on the stone for a few moments as they dry. Then take the stone to a place in nature where it will be inconspicuous. Leave it there, expressing your gratitude to it for accepting your pain. Whenever you are inclined to think of yourself as a victim or survivor, recall that the stone sits before God as a witness to your desire to change that way of thinking about yourself.
