In silence the world is lost, but in another kind of silence we find God. Sometimes the silence in which we find God can bestow on us the courage to break the other silence, in which goodness and the world are lost.

Search for times and places where you can find the silence of God: in a chapel, in your home late at night, on a country road, on a walk through the woods or a field, at a beach, anytime or place you are alone. Listen to the silence, feel it, imagine it wrapping its love around you and filling you with strength. Praise God who gives you these moments. Then when you find yourself in situations where you know you must speak up, feel that encouraging presence of silence around you, and do not be afraid to say what you know is the truth.
