Find someone you're competing with and arrange to take her to lunch. Make the lunch all about the other person. Let her be the star and tell you all about her, her life, her hopes, dreams, and fears. Let her shine. Think of ways in which you can help her. By the end of the lunch, this person will no longer seem threatening. Instead, you will spontaneously see ways in which the two of you can support each other, how some of your needs are mutual, and the ways in which you can work together for the benefit of both. Then the need to eliminate this person, or come out on top of her, will dissolve naturally.
