William Stafford’s poem “A Memorial” from the collection Every War Has Two Losers includes these lines:

"In Nagasaki they have built a little room
dark and soundproof where you can
go in all alone and close the door and cry."

Identify what place can serve as your crying room. When you are feeling overwhelmed by grief or sadness, give yourself the time and space to “close the door and cry” until you feel the cleansing effect of your tears. Then emerge with gentleness and care in your heart.
