Small smooth pebbles collected from the seashore or purchased at import stores can serve as prayer sacramentals. Before praying, take the pebbles in your hand one by one, pausing to remember friends or special intentions. Then place them in front of you in a half circle or other design. Let them be visual sign of the persons or intentions for which you wish to pray that day. When you have finished your time of prayer, leave them in their sacred pattern at your shrine. As you pass your shrine during the day or return to it at evening, they will remind you of your prayerful intentions and your communion with loved ones.
