Great Spirit, you have been here always, and before you, nothing has been. There is no one to pray to but you. The star nations throughout the heavens are yours, and yours are the green grasses of the earth mother. You are older than all need, older than all pain, older than all prayer.
Great Spirit, all over the world the faces of living ones are like. With tenderness, they have come up out of the ground. Grandfather, look upon your grandchildren, with children in their arms, that they may face the winds and walk the good road to the day of silence.
Great Spirit, fill us with the light. Give us the strength to understand and the eyes to see. Teach us how to walk the soft earth as relatives to all living beings. Help us, O Grandfather, for without you we are nothing.
