"Spiritual teachers often guide their disciples along this inner path of freedom and change. They begin by pointing out a facet of mental activity that is often not noticed. It is right there, 'hidden in plain sight,' or 'right above your nose,' so to speak. Making the obvious visible is an important moment in spiritual development. The Sufis say about Jesus, 'He stands by the river selling river water.' He does not supply missing information. Spiritual development is a gradual opening of consciousness to include more and more of what is present. Spiritual wisdom is seeing more of what is and seeing everything there is from the point of view of spirit. The guide merely says, 'Notice this. Is it not there?' "

To Practice: Be attentive this week to the spiritual meanings in plain sight within your everyday experiences. Whatever you encounter, say, "Is it not there?
