All forms of spiritual practice are to help you live in the awareness of the mystery that surrounds us, every moment. Brian Swimme, Ph.D., who is a cosmologist and one of my spiritual teachers, says that for him, spiritual practice is about increasing those “cosmic moments of connectedness,” until our lives become filled with awe and joy for living.

I would say it a little differently. The more we practice noticing life, the more we notice that life is noticing our noticing! Then we are in relationship with the Spirit. We are never alone; we feel a part of everything around us no matter where we go. We naturally develop more love, respect, and trust in the Universe. We are part of something wonderful here on planet Earth, something awesome, something beyond words.

When we practice walking with the Spirit, we are simply moving through our day with the knowledge that we are loved by this mystery that is all around us. Walking with the Spirit is staying in love with our lives and knowing that we are loved.
