"The practice of unconditional love can be viewed as an adventure. Whether or not we received it in our family of origin is irrelevant.

"Expressing unconditional love doesn't come naturally to most of us. We are far more inclined to compare ourselves with others, feeling better than or worse than them with each comparison. The end result is that we don't feel much joy. And we certainly don't spread much either.

"Anticipating the expression of unconditional love like an adventure makes offering it as often as possible like a game where everyone wins. What a thoughtful way to contribute to the world around us.

"Every minute with another person is my opportunity to practice real love today. How many loving minutes I accumulate is up to me.

"Is my scorecard today one I am proud of? It's not easy to be unconditionally loving, is it? Only God does it perfectly. Our parents seldom did. Even our dearest friends and spouses find it hard. But we can try. That's all that's expected. That's what today's scorecard is for. How many times did I really try to be unconditionally loving today?

"Where could I have done better?

"Making a list of the times and people who will get my love tomorrow will help me to remember."
