"Whoever feels attracted to Jesus cannot adequately explain why," Adolf Holl, author of Jesus in Bad Company wisely observed. "He must be prepared to be always correcting his image of Jesus for he will never exhaust what there is to know. Jesus is full of surprises."

That may actually be an understatement. From our reading we have culled a wide variety of quotations about Jesus, revealing many diverse perspectives on the man from Nazareth by Christians and people from other spiritual traditions. What they all agree on is that we can practice what Jesus preached and modeled. Or as Ed Hays put it in his imaginative The Gospel of Gabriel: "Jesus grinned and smiled gently, pointing to his chest: 'I am the lesson! Learn me, learn me by heart.' "

This Lent, you are invited to explore these lessons through a repeat offering of our popular "Practicing Spirituality with Jesus" e-course. Forty daily emails each contain a thought-provoking quotation about Jesus for your reflection and a practice suggestion inspired by the quote. These are concrete ways for people of all traditions to express their respect and love of Jesus and the way of life he modeled.

This Lenten edition has two additional features that distinguish it from the version of the e-course offered through Spirituality & Practice's on-demand e-course system. First, for the Sundays in Lent (not counted in the 40 days), we send a slightly longer-than-usual quotation and use it to teach a classic spiritual practice. Consider this a six-week supplementary course in Christian practices.

Second, subscribers to the Lenten edition have access to a private online Practice Circle where they can talk with other participants about the quotations and the practices.
