If Lucy Fell is a romantic comedy set in New York City by writer and director Eric Schaeffer.

Joe (Eric Schaeffer) is an artist and teacher who lives in an apartment with his best friend Lucy (Sarah Jessica Parker), a therapist. Just before her 30th birthday, she reminds Joe of a pact they made years ago that they would jump off the Brooklyn Bridge if they had not each found a life mate by the age of 30. This deadline spurs them to act in the name of love.

Joe musters the courage to meet Jane (Elle Macpherson), the very attractive neighbor he has been ogling for years, and Lucy begins going out with an eccentric artist (Ben Stiller) who likes her a lot. Of course, both disappointing experiences send Joe and Lucy into each other's arms. As a street person puts it in the film, the trick of relationships is to love the one in your heart rather than the one in your dreams.

Although there is nothing very startling about this tried and true message, Schaeffer has found some fresh ways to explore the personal idiosyncrasies and the romantic hangups that block twentysomethings from true love.
