Sarah Plain and Tall is set in 1910 when New Englander Sarah Wheaton (Glenn Close) answers an ad for a mail-order bride placed by a Kansas farmer (Christopher Walken), a widower raising two children. She begins a 30-day trial period as their guest. The family comes together around her as love and respect replace fear and distrust. The film aired on CBS as a "Hallmark Hall of Fame" presentation.
