This thoroughly enjoyable remake of the 1961 comedy hit that starred English actress Hayley Mills packs plenty of humor and emotional punch. Nancy Meyers directs Lindsay Lohan who plays 11-year-old twins separated at birth when their parents divorced. Hallie from California and Annie from London meet at a summer camp and cook up a scheme to reunite their father, Nick (Dennis Quaid), a prosperous vineyard owner, and their mother, Elizabeth (Natasha Richardson), a famous dress designer.
With a little help from caretakers in both families, they set out on a mission of love. The only hitch is that Nick has announced his engagement to Meredith Blake (Elaine Hendrix), a gold-digging publicity agent half his age. In its own spunky way The Parent Trap celebrates the ideal of family ties as one of the pre-eminent virtues of our times.
