The Flower of My Secret is Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's best picture to date.

Marisa Paredes gives a stellar performance as Leo, a bestselling author of romance novels whose life is shattered with the breakup of her marriage. Unable to conjure up the old magic at her desk, she falls into a deep depression. Then, just when Leo expects nothing to happen, her life goes into an astonishing turnaround. The catalysts are the troubles of her elderly mother who insists on returning to the village where she was born, the financial difficulties of Leo's maid and her son who are trying to start up a flamenco production company, and Leo's new friendship with a cultural editor at a Madrid newspaper.

Almodovar has created a fluid and almost flawless cinematic style that delivers the film's heartfelt messages about love lost, change, loneliness, roots, and personal renewal.
