The sound of running water -- the archetypal babbling brook or rushing stream -- is an old remedy for stress. If you are feeling anxious or tight, find a place where water makes its own song and simply be there, allowing the sound to wash away your stress. One of my mother's favorite sayings is "This too, shall pass." When we hear the water's passing, it reminds us to let go, secure in knowledge that all things eventually flow away. If there is no running water near you, find a recording of nature sounds and listen to it.
