Ordinary things that annoy us are loaded with spirits waiting for transformation. After scraping and painting my house last summer, I realized that I missed the opportunity to turn every phase of the experience into a work of art. I wished that I had taken comprehensive "before" photographs as well as pictures documenting my tools in action and the various apparatuses I used to reach the peaks of the house. But I can do all of this through imagination and memory and still reap the benefits of the transformational feelings.
