Benefits of a Spiritual Journey
Many individuals inquire about the benefits of spirituality in their daily life and specifically, of having a spiritual practice to follow-- an activity that connects one with God, with neighbors and the Creation, and with one's true self. Whether that spiritual practice comes from one of the world religions or is something that you "make up as you go along" (what we call the Indiana Jones School of Spirituality), it can lead to personal transformation. Following a spiritual path and relishing in the practice will give you many benefits that you may not be aware of.
When asked at Spirituality & Practice what we thought are some of the benefits of having a spiritual practice, we came up with the following list (in no certain order).
The entire Spirituality & Practice website, from our reviews and articles to our spiritual quotes and blogs, to our online retreats and spiritual courses - are designed to help you reap those benefits for your spiritual journey. Spiritual Direction and Growth
A visit to Spirituality & Practice has many of the elements of time spent in spiritual direction and growth. In our articles, you will find ideas for your spiritual personal transformation and encouragement for your efforts to make your practices consistent and regular. Our spiritual e-courses and online retreats give practical guidance for practicing spirituality in the ways of different religious traditions; in various places and situations, through your activities, and in your relationships. Other programs enable you to find spiritual direction in the teachings of masters such as Joan Chittister, Pema Chodron, Thomas Merton, Rumi, and Thich Nhat Hanh. Our 21-Day Programs to Break Habits address commonplace challenges you might discuss with your spiritual director: beating the blahs, dealing with disappointment, coping with fear, letting go, building patience, and living with uncertainty. In the Spirituality and Practice community you can present questions, share thoughts on books and films, and give suggestions on things that you would like to see on our site.
Whether you're just beginning your journey and are interested in spiritual formation, or you're a longtime practitioner working on your spiritual growth or needing assistance during difficult times, Spirituality & Practice has something for you.
