“How can we as viewers prepare ourselves to experience art in a way that deepens our understanding of art and of the divine? I believe that in order to be prepared to encounter the divine, we must first be prepared to encounter the other. A conversion, after all, is a move into the unknown, a move to encounter the difference between where we were and where we’re going.

“If we are to be truly converted, we need to shed weight, surrender our fears, embrace those we have seen as 'other,' or the other experience, other art. That might not be so easy. It might seem foreign, but if we allow ourselves to become open, we may find it’s not so foreign after all.”
