Seven little critters live together quite comfortably in a small, dark hole. But one day it hits them that their home is too small for them now that they have grown bigger. And so they emerge in a junkyard and like knights going out into the world they don protection in the forms of cups, old boots, dirty gloves, and paper towel rolls. Their quest for a place to call home takes them across the sea (a puddle), over a mountain (a desk), and through the desert (a pile of sand). The most formidable problem these critters face is when a dog grabs one of their brothers. Now the band of questers is challenged to find a solution to their problem.

Alexis Deacon is the author of this funny book for children ages 4 and up. The adventures endured by the seven little critters is similar to the tests that pilgrims undergo on a pilgrimage. Every problem creates an opportunity for us to learn from our challenges and to work together with others. These are the two major themes that emerge out of the long and arduous trek of the band of critters who are truly one for all, and all for one.
