In this well-realized feminist drama, Suzi Amis stars as a woman who survives on the American frontier in the 19th century by disguising herself as a man.

After being disinherited by her parents, Josephine leaves her illegitimate child with a sister and heads out west as Little Jo. Arriving in Ruby City, she tries mining for gold, works as a sheep herder, and finally settles down in a place of her own.

Writer and director Maggie Greenwald has made a gritty film which explores the deplorable exigencies of sexual politics in the Old West.
