My Antonia is an emotionally stirring screen adaptation of Willa Cather's 1918 novel. Neil Patrick Harris plays an orphaned adolescent who moves in with his grandparents (Jason Robards and Eva Marie Saint) on their farm in Nebraska.

This shy and scholarly boy falls under the spell of Antonia (Elina Lowensohn), an impoverished Bohemian neighbor. Over the years, their friendship undergoes several transformations. He teaches her English and she introduces him to the joys of dancing.

The film which is directed by Joseph Sargent vividly conveys the beauty and the harshness of the Nebraska landscape. It also celebrates the enduring bond between two people who are drawn together by tides of feelings which go beyond words.
