Journey of Hope
Directed by Xavier Koller
Warner Home Video 04/91 DVD/VHS Feature Film
PG

A Turkish couple sell their land and sheep and head off to Switzerland with their young son, leaving behind the rest of their family. They are filled with hopes for a better life. The journey is arduous, humiliating, and filled with betrayal and disappointment.

Director Xavier Koller celebrates the courage and the hope of these refugees who are shamefully treated by both those who prey upon them and those in Switzerland who are quick to close doors on ethnic outsiders. Journey of Hope, a Swiss film, won the Academy Award in 1990 as Best Foreign Language Film.
