The truth is that we need each other, even before we know each other, even before we know that we are in need. Like snow trickling down mountain cracks to form a stream, like streams washing over roots to form a river, like rivers meeting at the mouth of the sea, we run our course; destined to merge along the way. And it's the sweetwater, Love, that brings us together and that carries us on.

It reminds me of the lawyer in the movie Philadelphia, who, dying of AIDS, closes his eyes and swings his IV pole in his apartment as he listens to an opera. He swings about in the dark and softly translates the voice filling the room: "I am the God who comes down from the heavens to make a Heaven of this Earth. I am Love."
