Saint Benedict provides that there should always be at the gate of the monastery a wise old man, one with the benignity of years who knows how to give a hearty and warm welcome. There is always to be a guesthouse, one well provided and carefully kept. Especially is the stranger and traveler to be welcomed. For it is the Lord.
