Hugh Prather changed worlds on November 15, 2010, at his home in Tucson, Arizona. He died in his hot tub, apparently of a heart attack, his wife Gayle said. He was 72. We fondly remember the Rev. Howard Moody at Judson Memorial Church in New York City often quoting Prather in his sermons and even using readings from his books as the "Contemporary Scripture." We are grateful to this spiritual writer for his many insights into everyday experiences, intimate relationships, and our connection to God.

Hugh Prather conducted classes on relationships and parenting with his wife Gayle. A minister, lecturer, and counselor, Hugh Prather is best known for his 14 books — many of which were co-written with Gayle.

Hugh's weekly radio program, "Living in the Light," a two-hour call-in show, was syndicated by WISDOM Radio. It featured topics such as spiritual healing, spirituality in marriage, parenting, and everyday family life. Hugh lived with his Gayle and their two sons live in Tucson, Arizona, where they were resident ministers at St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church.
