Ending a Relationship
"Tom and Jean decided to separate after being together for three years. They created a ritual to signify the end of their love relationship. They dug a hole and placed some artifacts of their past life together in it — a few gifts, a letter, a shared pillowcase. Tom wrote a poem and Jean made a picture symbolizing their former relationship. Together they put them into the hole and set them on fire. When the fire was out, they covered it with dirt and planted flowers over the remains of their old relationship. They said a prayer that what had died could find life in a new and better form."
