Tend the Seed of God Within You

“Know this: you have an outer and inner self,
and while you naturally serve the outer part –
worrying about what you should wear or eat, or
how you should live with others – the inner self
is what matters most and holds your nobility.

“How can I explain this to you in a way you might
understand? Think of it this way: a pear tree’s seed
will grow into a pear tree, just as a nut tree’s seed
will become a nut tree, each becoming what it is.

“So it is with you: the seed of God within you
grows into God; tend that seed, and do away
with the weeds that threaten to choke it out –
though even these cannot ever extinguish it.

“For whether or not you see it, that seed will gleam
and glow, shining and burning in your life,
always seeking to become God in you.”
