When conditions are no longer sufficient to keep the flame alive, it will be extinguished. The fires of rage will continue to burn only if we add fuel to the fire. The moment we discover that hatred is provisional, not permanent, we can be at peace, even if confusion is still present. We think suffering will always be there, but hatred, anger, jealousy, and all states of mind are empty at their core, independent of a separate ‘self.’ We don’t have to be afraid anymore.”
