Big Bear Hug
Nicholas Oldland
Kids Can Press 09/09 Hardcover $16.95
ISBN: 9781554534647

"There was once a bear so filled with love and happiness that whenever he roamed the forest and came across another living thing, he would give it a hug," writes Nicholas Oldland in this delightful children's book. The bear surprises a rabbit who looks like he thinks his fate is to be eaten. Other beings are astonished that the bear hugs them even though they are small, smelly, or scary. Never having met a tree he did not like, the bear hugs all kinds of them. But when he meets a man in the forest with an axe who wants to chop down a tree, the bear is forced to re-consider his hugging policy.

This wonderful contemporary fable is perfect for little children who will instinctively understand that hugging is an expression of love and it's a really good thing to express your affection for everybody and every thing.
