Rebbe Nachman (1772 - 1810) was the great grandson of the Baal Shem Tov, founder of the Hasidic movement. He was born in the Ukranian town of Medzeboz and grew up to become a Torah sage, mystic, teacher, and master storyteller. During his brief life, he gathered a devoted following who looked to him as the chief source of spiritual guidance. For them, he was "the Rebbe." He died at age 38 from tuberculosis. His influence was so potent that even to this day, many devout Jews visit his grave in Uman.

In 113 pages, Moshe Mykoff and the Breslov Research Foundation have arranged a rousing and inspiring collection of this Hasidic teacher's timeless wisdom. We have used many quotations from Rebbe Nachman in our books and in the Soul Boosters on this website. One of our very favorites: "Growing spiritually can be like a roller coaster ride. Take comfort in the knowledge that the way down is only preparation for the way up."

This volume is filled with plenty of insights into the virtuous life. "Everything can be a resource for serving God," observes the Rebbe. He sees obstacles as gateways to spiritual growth. He is a great believer in gratitude: "Praise God. It puts everything into its proper place and perspective." One saying seems remarkably timely: " Know! A person walks in life on a very narrow bridge. The most important thing is not to be afraid." And we've saved the best for last: "Never despair! Never! It is forbidden to give up hope."
