In this timely Zoom webinar based on her most recent book, Kaitlin Curtice will talk about how we can live responsible, responsive lives in the presence of so much injustice. Daily we encounter the reality of war, oppression, and hate – reported from far away or happening in our own communities. We can feel powerless or discouraged because the problems are deep, widespread, and systemic.
The 75-minute webinar with Curtice was originally offered live in October 2024, and it is now available on-demand. Curtice’s talk will reinvest us with a sense of agency and hope. She will describe how we can use our daily lives to resist the status quo and embrace wholeness, thus avoiding a new normal that threatens all kinds of flourishing. Curtice has defined four Realms of Resistance, and her talk will take us through each one. She will give particular attention to what care looks like on a personal, communal, and ancestral level; and will, finally, describe how to integrate all forms of care into a daily life that offers us — and all of creation — a greater sense of wholeness.
Curtice is an award-winning author, poet-storyteller, and public speaker. She leads workshops and retreats, has presented keynotes at the Aspen Climate Conference and Chautauqua Institution, and has contributed to online outlets such as Sojourners, Religion News Service, and On Being. An enrolled citizen of the Potawatomi nation, Curtice’s work addresses the relationship between white American Christianity and Indigenous peoples, the intersections of spirituality and identity, and the importance of interfaith relationships.
In 2020, her book Native: Identity, Belonging and Rediscovering God won an award for Georgia Author of the Year in the religion category. In 2023, Curtice released two books: first, Living Resistance: An Indigenous Vision for Seeking Wholeness Every Day, and her first children’s book, Winter’s Gifts: An Indigenous Celebration of Nature, which is the first in a series of four books on the four seasons coming out with Convergent, RandomHouse Books.
