(This page shows you how to upload a photo into our Practice Circles. If you are trying to change your avatar/profile picture, please click on the following link for instructions: Changing Your Avatar.)

1. Make sure that the photo you want to upload is on your computer, phone, or tablet. And BE SURE IT HAS A UNIQUE NAME. "Image1.jpg" will not work. Remember the file name and/or its location.

(PLEASE NOTE: When using phones or tablets, because you often can not give photos a unique name or reorient pictures, your photos may not load correctly. If so, please use a regular computer to make the necessary changes. Upload the picture to your computer, open it in photo editing software, fix the orientation if it is SIDEWAYS or UPSIDE DOWN—most have a built in tool or feature to rotate pictures — then save a copy and rename the photo. All photos are automatically reduced in size to accommodate the upload of many photos in each thread. Vertical photos may have to be reduced in size to stay vertical when posted - no more than 4000 px on the longer side).

2. Start a new post with the subject line that you want to have accompany your photo.

3. Place your cursor in the text box. You will see that the camera icon goes from "faded" to active.

4. Click on the camera icon. You will see a pop-up box called "Image" that shows fields for your photo's Path and Filename plus Alternative Text. In the upper right corner of the box you'll see "upload an image…"

5. Click "Upload an image." Another pop-up box appears (appropriately titled "Upload an Image") that invites you to "Select a File." Click this box. A directory of your computer files comes up in another window to locate your picture.

6. Select the photo you want and click the "Open" button.

7. You will find yourself back at the "Upload an Image" box, but this time, the name of your photo will be listed. Click "Upload." You will be asked to "Please Wait."

8. Once the brief (except for very large photos) waiting period is over, you will see your picture in a grid on the screen. The program is designed to automatically adjust it to fit but you can make it smaller if you wish. Then you simply click "Done."

9. Now you will be back to the original "Image" pop-up box. There is a field for "Alternative Text" but this will not show on the published page so you may leave it blank. Then click "Done."

10. Now your picture appears in the post. Click "Post Message."

Voila! Your picture is now online in the Practice Circle thread.
