International pop singing sensation Britney Spears makes her feature film debut in this appealing chick flick about three friends who explore together that scary and exhilarating transition from adolescence to adulthood. Tamra Davis directs Crossroads from a screenplay by Shonda Rhimes.

At eight years old, three Georgia girls bury symbols of their dreams in a box and vow to dig it up on the eve of their high school graduation. Ten years later, they are no longer close friends. Lucy (Britney Spears) is a straight-A student and class valedictorian. Kit (Zoë Saldana) is a cheerleader who has spent years at fat camps trying to groom the perfect body. And Mimi (Taryn Manning), who is pregnant, has the reputation of being trailer camp white trash.

Still, loneliness and dissatisfaction with their present lives draws the three former friends together after graduation to retrieve their box and briefly reminisce about the past. The next day, Lucy and Kit decide to join Mimi who's heading off to California to enter a music contest. She wants to get a recording contract so she can support herself and her soon-to-be-born child. Lucy has her own agenda of visiting her estranged mother who left her and her over-protective dad (Dan Aykroyd) when she was only three years old. Kim wants to pay a surprise visit to her fiancé who's at college. Mimi's mysterious friend Ben (Anson Mount) is the chauffeur for the cross-country trip. He's an aspiring musician with a love for his '73 Buick convertible.

Britney Spears puts in an energetic and convincing performance as Lucy, a straight-arrow adolescent whose dad wants her to become a doctor even though she dreams of being a singer. No wonder Lucy leaps at the opportunity to find out what she's got on an adventurous trip filled with untold possibilities. The singer sparkles and has a much more relaxed screen presence than either Madonna or Mariah Carey have demonstrated to date. Teenagers all over the world will rejoice in their favorite singer's seemingly effortless transition to the big screen as an actress.

The DVD has some extras sure to please Britney Spears' fans including a featurette "40 Days with Britney," behind-the-scenes at the movie premiere, music videos of "Overprotected" and "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," two karaoke-style sing-alongs with Britney, and even a how-to for making t-shirts!
