Here is a delightful romantic comedy that will appeal to hordes of men and women who feel unsure about themselves in the dating game.

Abby Barnes (Janeane Garofalo) is a smart and sassy veterinarian with her own popular call-in radio show where she dispenses advice to Los Angeles pet owners. Brian (Ben Chaplin), an English photographer with an unruly dog, is smitten by Abby's voice and asks her out on a date. However, she is so insecure that she convinces her attractive neighbor Noelle (Uma Thurman) to impersonate her. Brian, predictably, falls for this leggy blonde model who has her own smorgasbord of vulnerabilities.

The Truth About Cats & Dogs is a gender switching version of Cyrano de Bergerac with the three lead characters all registering buoyant and entertaining performances. Abby and Noelle hit it off as friends and in the process explore some of the more interesting aspects of sexual politics, including the nature of beauty and self-esteem. And, as you might have guessed, there are some scene-stealing animals who will keep you smiling throughout the story.
