In Half Moon Street, Sigourney Weaver stars as Dr. Lauren Slaughter, an American with a Ph.D. from Harvard who lands a job at an Arab-Anglo Institute in London. When her male chauvinist employer holds her back, she decides to supplement her meager income by moonlighting as an "escort" for the Jasmine Agency. She meets and falls in love with Lord Bulbeck (Michael Caine), a diplomat who is involved in setting up a peace accord between the Arabs and the Israelis.

Sigourney Weaver is smashing as this brainy and beautiful woman who is not ashamed to use her real name while selecting the men she will favor with sexual pleasures. Her attraction to Lord Bulbeck is easily explained: he offers a mirror reflection of what she desires — power, wealth, and fame.

The only trouble with Dr. Slaughter's double life is her arrogance. It enables others to use her as a pawn in a sinister game of international terrorism. Although not as smooth as the Paul Theroux novel it is based on, this screen adaptation is a cut about other suspense movies thanks to Weaver's convincing performance.
