Masculine sexism is more than just a group phenomenon. It is also a means of psychological warfare, a war waged by dominant men against the women who have to be dominated. Male feelings of superiority then evoke feminine feelings of inferiority, so that the dependent women content themselves with keeping a low profile and as victims are made to become accomplices in the male delusion. Women then feel that they are men's indispensable auxiliaries, or "helpmates", or complements; and they adapt themselves.
