Today we have grown accustomed to an imageless world of boxy computers, boxy office buildings, and boxy homes, smooth in line and texture, unhindered by gargoyles, filigree, ornament, and natural motif. We may call this style "modern," but from a magician's point of view, it is simply void of talismanic power, yet another sign of our failure to maintain enchantment in everyday life.
