Mark Thornton is the world's first executive meditation coach. His career in investment banking includes serving as interim Chief Operating Officer for JP Morgan in London. A student and practitioner of meditation for more than 20 years, Thornton has worked with more than 30 teachers in seven countries to find the best techniques for Super Busy people, those living at "warp speed."

A recent survey revealed that 80 percent of Americans feel "stressed or very stressed" (The New York Times). It doesn't have to be this way. Thornton wants us to imagine a world where we could:

• De-stress effortlessly
• Feel centered no matter what
• Easily create an oasis of calm anywhere you are
• Feel powerfully connected to life
• Begin to perceive stress as optional.

The author emphasizes that this quest to tap what the mystics call "the ocean of calm" should not be seen as a quick-fix. Although many of the exercises in this paperback take less than 60 seconds to do, it has taken some spiritual people a lifetime to achieve these meditation techniques. Thornton covers the eight laws of meditation, the five secrets of super calm, the eight golden keys, the eleven thieves along the path of meditation, and more.

If all this sees like too much, check to see whether you are clinching your jaw. If you are, make a conscious effort to relax the muscles there and do this repeatedly throughout the day. This exercise is part of what Thornton calls the Tantra Open Body path. It is possible to maintain a busy schedule and still find time to meditate, refocus our attention and revitalize our spirits.
