Author Rainie Howard is an entrepreneur, relationship expert, and popular YouTube and media personality. Her new book is for the spiritual but not religious, offering psychological insight and self-care guidance for building loving habits and ways toward greater happiness.

As Howard writes: “Your daily habits are creating your destiny.” She offers a variety of habits, what we would probably call spiritual practices, centering on love for oneself, love for others, and “habits of happiness.” This is a book for the spiritual practices of love and transformation.

She tilts always to the practical, the measurable, and the personal. For instance, one of the chapters ends with these prompts: “As you apply the daily habits of happiness by investing in your mind, body, and soul, this will allow you to become a magnet for positive relationships, develop a goal-driven focus, and build momentum of joy. Taking this time to journal and ask yourself the following questions will build more certainty and create more direction in your life. How can I be more intentional about my time, energy, and focus each day?... If I picture myself having achieved my goals, what does that look like?”

Chapters focus, also, on how to reinvent yourself in order to move beyond past hurts and “create the life you want,” and how to elevate your self-confidence and find more success in healthy relationships. We found most interesting chapter 10, “Unlock the Inner Wisdom of Your Intuition.”

Intuition, Howard writes, is both “the most powerful source that we all have,” and what we’ve “been programmed since childhood to ignore.” She powerfully unpacks each of five indicators that you might be ignoring your intuition (“stress and tension in your body; consistently doubting yourself; living in denial; life feels out of control and unstable; and seeking approval and validation from others”) and shows how to overcome these to unlock and train your intuition instead.
