The Jewish Publication Society has created this new series, Jewish Choices, Jewish Voices, to explore cutting-edge subjects along with relevant materials from ancient, medieval, and modern sources. This is one way to share with a broad audience the treasure trove of Jewish spiritual wisdom as it relates to the ethical and moral issues of our day.

This premier paperback focuses on Jewish attitudes toward the body. The book begins with three case studies on diet choices, tattoos, and high-risk behavior, which are each accompanied by comments from traditional and contemporary sources. A symposium contains a variety of Jewish perspectives on the body with pieces on men's and women's bodies, anorexia and bulimia; physicians perspectives, circumcision, food, and much more.

The final section is "Our Bodies, Our Selves, Our Values." Editors Dorff and Newman note that Judaism teaches all to honor their bodies and to take personal responsibility for them.
